This custom Challenger was originally a Plum Crazy Purple car. It has a Shaker hood TA spoilers and dual mirrors. During its custom build it was fully disassembled and blasted before it was finished in custom PPG paint. The custom 528ci all-aluminum Indy HEMI engine features a Maxx aluminum block Manley rods Wiseco custom dome pistons 426-1 Indy heads with Super Mod porting K-Motion springs and 10-degree titanium keepers. The engine is fed by a 950cfm Holley Ultra HP carburetor through a port-matched Indy 426-2 intake. It?s also equipped with an Indy Maxx oil pump and oil pan custom 24-gallon aluminum fuel cell with a Holley racing fuel pump MSD Pro Billet distributor custom 1-1/4 ceramic-coated headers flowing into custom 3 exhaust with X-pipe and ceramic-coated Holly Flo Tec mufflers. A Be Cool aluminum radiator with dual thermostatically controlled fans Meziere high-volume water pump and Indy reverse-flow water pump keeps the engine running cool. Richmond 6-speed manual transmission with a long shifter and McCleod dual disc clutch with Lakewood scattershield transfers the power through a Dennys heavy-duty aluminum metal matrix driveshaft and DTS custom-built Dana 60 rear end with Strange axles. This Challenger features a custom frame and suspension with a full roll cage Aldan coilover shocks and Magnum Force A-arms with 1-1/8? sway bar up front Aldan coilovers out back Modified Competition Engineering engine and mid-plate mounts and full aluminum tubs. Wilwood dual master cylinder and billet disc brakes at all corners provide stopping power to the one-off Boyd Coddington billet wheels and Nitto 555Extreme ZR tires. Additionally this Challenger was equipped with a Painless wiring harness Summit battery disconnect dual batteries mini starter variable speed wipers Electro-life electric windows Halogen headlights and custom driving lights. [OC] How Apple is managing OLED-like performance from the Pro Display XDR (x-posted from /r/Apple)

Apple claims OLED-like and Reference-level performance out of their 10bit IPS Display. So how are they doing it?

After some searching, I came across a patent they filed in 2016

This is a fascinating patent. It suggests Apple has made a custom double-IPS panel. If you take a look at the cross section of the custom Apple panel, we see something fascinating. There is a A SECOND IPS PANEL near the backlight, enabling significantly better "light shaping" by allowing them to significantly dim specific screen areas at the pixel level rather than solely relying on 526 microLED's for Full Array Local Dimming.

I'm also guessing that the back panel is actually a monochrome IPS display, finely tuned to filter out the blue wavelengths from, the blue backlight Apple is using. They use blue LED's rather than white ones because you can achieve finer control of the light output based on voltage/current input, for better granular control). Apple is claiming 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio for this display. They do not state whether this is static or dynamic, but historically, apple has only ever stated static contrast ratios. For example, they state the iPhone XS has a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio as well, and it's using an OLED panel. (Note: "infinite" contrast ratio is a marketing gimmick. There is a limit to OLED contrast ratio, due to bloom from nearby pixels)

The patent also details Apple's custom image processing stack, showing how the incoming data is parsed and shipped off to the various layers of the display, in incredible detail!. It appears that Apple is splitting the image into two parts. The image designated for the "back panel" / Lighting is split into 3 parts -- a downsampled image so it can be processed quickly (this needs to be done 60 times / second). Then algorithms modify the frame slightly, based on how the backlight will shine through the rear panel, and produce an upsampled image. This information is used by the miniLED backlight for local dimming, and the upsampled, modified frame is sent to the rear IPS display for fine tuning the "light shaping", to assist the front panel. This enables the light to shine brighter on "HDR regions" of the screen, while eliminating backlight bleed for the dark areas, achieving very close to OLED black levels.

Finally, the normal color image is sent to the "front panel". Thanks to the intermediate diffusers, polarizers, and more, the carefully aligned light going through the two sandwiched layers is combined, ending its journey when it meets your eyeballs. And now you now know the secret sauce for how Apple managed OLED-like performance. It's very likely that this is a static contrast ratio. Both panels, as well as the miniLED backlight must be properly calibrated for this to work well.

It should be noted that this type of dual-layer screen is hard to do without serious software/hardware integration. Otherwise you get atrocious lighting, bloom, consistency, and color issues, as well as general image artifacting. Similar tech has been deployed in several spaces before, One area it's been commercially available in is with Medical Grade monochrome displays for Xray reading. It's really impressive that Apple managed to do It with a full color HDR display, and achieve reference levels of calibration on such a high pixel density display. Regarding that contrast ratio, there was a Panasonic demo in 2016 where the company claimed that they had achieved a 1,000,000:1 static contrast ratio using a similar technique. It's possible Apple may be sourcing some panels or tech from them, but we will not know until there is a teardown. A company named HiSense also managed to do something similar in a TV (much lower pixel density) and showed It off at CES 2019. Not sure it's on sale yet, though.

Dear Anon: It hurts. it Always does. so many things are going through my head right now that I want to say to you. I know it hurts, to have this pain and evil inside of you that feels so obvious, so blatant, calling out, crying out for someone to save you. it hurts, to go day by day as the weight of this horrible creature hangs over you. I get it. you aren't alone.

But you can't wait for someone to save you.

It might feel like it's hopeless, and it might feel impossible, but you have to realize: if you were underwater, and you needed to breathe, would you wait for someone to throw you a floater? or would you swim up for air? Rantaro wasn't blind. he knew something was up, but he didn't want to pry. he figured, if you wanted to talk, you would talk. That didn't stop him from worrying, however.

Deciding he wanted to talk to you, He had offered to bring you your favorite take out, in hopes to bring your spirits up. when you had failed to reply to his texts, he thought your phone might just be dead, and he went to your house anyway.

He had reached your apartment, and receiving no answer, decided to come in anyway. It's not like you would get out of bed anyway.

setting the food down in your kitchen, rantaro decided to go wake you up, before your food got cold, so you could both eat. Crossing the house and reaching your bedroom door, he paused. Were you... crying? Swinging open the door, desperate to comfort you-

you were sitting there, face ashamed as you held a knife in one hand, and bandages in the other. He couldn't tear his eyes away from your arm. littered with cuts in uniform size, some old and some new, your arm looked red and angry.

Rantaro walked over to you, hesitantly, as if you were a wild animal. when he got near enough to you, he pried the knife out of your hands. he threw it to the floor and gathered you into his arms.

Both of you, shaking, sobbing, and holding each other. You told him that you were sorry for not being honest. That just started an avalanche of apologies out of both of you. Rantaro, apologizing for not noticing, for not being there. You, hearing this, claimed it all was on you. Both of you sat there for the better part of an hour, just crying, holding the other close, and trying to piece back together pieces of your broken heart.

It was the day of your wedding, and you couldn't be happier. you were standing at the alter with the man you loved, you were surrounded by friends and family, and most importantly, you were 2 years clean.

It wasn't easy. there had been days when you found yourself peering down the rabbit hole of depression, ready to dive back in...

but you had gotten help. With rantaro to support you, you had sought help from professionals. It didn't mean you were cured, far from it. But now you took medicine to keep the thoughts from piling on you, and you had techniques for when things got too gloomy. He tried his best to keep you occupied, to keep your mind off of more depressing things. He wasn't one to get all touchy feely, but he tried his best to be there for you.

He thought it would be enough.

He noticed when you started wearing long sleeves, no matter the weather. How you would get jumpy whenever someone would look at your sleeves for more than a second, how you would avoid all physical contact when someone tried to touch you.

Kokichi was a master of lies, and he could quite plainly see through yours.

Really, if he didn't have more pressing matters to talk to you about, he would sit you down and give you lessons in lying like a pro. 

 He wasn't about to sit by and let his partner in crime hurt themselves.

At least one of the perks of having over 10,000 members in his organization meant he could gather enough people for an intervention at a moment's notice.

when you came home from work that day, you were surprised at the small circle of chairs surrounding the door. Thinking it was a prank, you weakly chuckled and waved at the people with a shaky smile on your face. When kokichi came to you with a serious look on his face, however, your smile fell from your face.

 It wasn't pretty. there were tears, a little bit of yelling, and denial.... but kokichi and you finally had the heart to heart you needed. (after he sent all those ridiculous people in clown masks home)

it was hard for him to open up at first. (years of building up walls and lying defenses don't just go away) but with your help, he had learned to stop bottling things up.

He watched, amused, as you fawned over a cute little baby on TV, subconsciously holding your stomach. He sometimes wondered, how it might have gone had he not confronted you. Every possible outcome seemed grimmer than the last.

But he was so happy to have you here. a few years ago, the idea of having a baby would have sent you into a panic attack, or even a depressive spiral. he knew that the baby would have made you so afraid, so terrified.....

But now, you and him both looked forward to a future together with a little girl in between the both of you.

You tried not to be a bother. Honest, you did. you felt bad asking for attention, and felt ashamed asking for validation. You didn't want your girlfriend, or anyone, finding out how sick you were.

One day after an intense aikido session, Tenko came home bruised and sweaty. Her arms were killing her, and the bruises from her sparring practice hurt like hell. She went to go take some painkillers, only to find that the bottle was nearly empty.

"Hey hon, where did all the painkillers go?" tenko called, walking to your shared bedroom.

When a muffled 'I took them' came out from under the covers, tenko stopped short. 

"what do you mean you took them? why?" tenko asked, fearful.

when you popped your head out from under the covers, that fear decreased subsided a little

Tenko felt the fear she had been fighting come back and rear its ugly head at her. She tried to remain calm, however.

A majority of car enthusiasts view spacers as the simplest way to achieve perfect fitment from their wheels and tires. While wheel spacers are commonly used in the car scene, especially in the tuner community, they have also found their way onto trucks and off-road vehicles. This is done to increase the amount of clearance between the wheel and the hub when swapping out the setup. Installing spacers in these cases proves beneficial because drives can then install larger off-road tires, which translates to improved performance, traction, and overall capability.

A wheel spacer is placed between the wheel and the wheel hub of your vehicle to essentially push the wheel further out. This creates more backspacing and a negative offset for an improved and more aggressive look. There are two main types of wheel spacers: slip-on and bolt-on. The former slides over the wheel studs and is located between the wheel and wheel hub. The latter bolts right onto your wheel studs and comes with its own studs to bolt the wheels to. Wheel spacers are available in a variety of different thicknesses, diameters, and bolt patterns. If the wheel, hub, and spacer are correct for the application and the bolts/lugs are torqued to the right amounts, you should not encounter any problems with running spacers. 

It is also important to do your research and make sure you get the right ones for your applications. That’s because, sometimes, wheel spacers can actually cause your tires to rub on the outer edge and that can become quite an issue. They can also wear out your car’s suspension parts more quickly. But, while that can be detrimental in the long run, it doesn’t make them inherently unsafe. Whether you are looking into spacers for aesthetic or performance purposes, there is no reason why you should not reap the many benefits associated with them for both daily driving and racing. 

Pros of Using Wheel Spacers

Improved Vehicle Performance: Investing in wheel spacers is an easy way to improve the performance of your vehicle when behind the driver’s seat. By pushing the wheel further away from the chassis, you are simultaneously creating a wider track and lower center of gravity for increased performance benefit. With this, you will enjoy more grip when cornering and a faster acceleration response when coming out of turns. 

Better Traction and Grip: The wider a vehicle’s wheelbase, the greater its grip and traction will be. Wheel spacers present the opportunity to increase an otherwise stock wheelbase in order to enjoy an enhanced performance. This is the primary reason why wheel spacers are often used for racing applications. It can really make a world of a difference and help out on the track. 

Proper Wheel Fitment:  The most common use for wheel spacers in the first place is to ensure that a particular set of wheels will fit a vehicle properly. After all, each year that passes shows an increasing number of drivers shifting their attention to custom wheel and tire packages. You will need wheel spacers if the wheels you have chosen have the incorrect offset for your car. And, just as there is potential for harm with wheel spacers, a wrong offset can interfere with your bodywork and suspension parts thereby creating unwanted driving issues.

Increased Aesthetic Value: Many owners choose to use wheel spacers to increase the aesthetic value of their cars. In many applications, a wider-than-stock wheelbase can be more visually pleasing and transform the overall look. Having wheels that come out to the edge of the bodywork will not only look the part but perform it as well, as it can offer a better driving stance too. While at a standstill, wheel spacers help to create a more aggressive appearance that shows your car means business and can consistently handle corners.

Multiple Options Available: The bolt-on wheel spacer is your best choice if you need to add a significant amount of clearance for your specific wheel-and-tire package. This specific type of spacer will connect to your existing hub and then you can bolt the wheel onto it. The washer type of wheel spacer is very affordable because it doesn’t require any additional mounting hardware to offer these benefits. This is ideal if you only need a few extra millimeters of clearance and it is super easy to install. 

Can Fit a Bigger Brake Kit: If you decide that you want a larger brake kit for your car, wheel spacers can give you enough room to potentially make that happen. Most of the big brake kits require wheels that are 17 inches or larger, which means fitment can be tricky using the standard setup. This may not apply in all applications, but it can be worth looking into for specific situations. 

Cons of Using Wheel Spacers

Wheel Vibration: Auto manufacturers specifically engineer each of their vehicle models in a way that provides superior ride quality and driveability. This is accomplished by establishing optimal front-end suspension geometry. So, whenever any of these related angels become modified (i.e. using spacers), excess wheel vibration can occur as a result. 

Accelerated Wear: Wheel spacers can sometimes cause accelerated wear on the hub components of your vehicle and its suspension. This happens because you are creating a wider track than what the frame was initially designed for. This can place stressors that go beyond the tested tolerances recommended by the OE manufacturer.

Fender Interference: While wheel spacers can oftentimes fix suspension and frame interference problems, they can also create these same issues in the process. When wheel offset is increased and a vehicle’s wheelbase is widened, factory wheel-to-fender clearances are reduced. Such can lead to tire rubbing or fender damage as a result.

Heavier Steering: Depending on the size of the wheel spacers you use, the steering can sometimes feel heavier while driving compared to before they were equipped. This is because creating a wider track for your vehicle to follow means that more effort is needed to navigate curves and turns. 

Must Install on All Wheels: If you were to install wheel spacers at the back of your vehicle while excluding the front, then you would only receive the advantage of more grip in the rear. That means your car would want to understeer as you approached a corner, with the front trending towards the outside, which could adversely affect the overall balance of the vehicle. Having them in the front would create a similar result, causing the back to get loose and potentially fishtail as you attempt to accelerate through coming out of the turn.

Safety Issues: Billet aluminum spacers are known for being more structurally consistent and stronger. Investing in billet aluminum spacers over cast aluminum is important because the latter has been reported to fit somewhat loosely around the hub and lead to an incomplete tightening of the lug. During driving, the lug nut may come off resulting in losing them and possibly experiencing a more serious safety issue. Or worse, the wheel can even come flying off when you least expect it due to improper installation.
